The brief: Celebrating its 34th year in 2024, the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues made a bold return after being revived under the helm of Festival Chair Andrew Nunn, and Artistic Director Serge Carnovale, founder of Melbourne’s renowned Paris Cat Jazz Club.

After being announced as cancelled in late 2023, the Festival was revived under an entirely new board. Zilla & Brook worked with the client to promote the return of the Festival, profiling the new chair and director, as well as the programming and the National Jazz Awards.

The Festival took place on 1 - 4 November with performances from the likes of Vince Jones, Hetty Kate, Nina Ferro, Cookin’ on 3 Burners and many more. Its triumphant comeback welcomed thousands of visitors, with an estimated $1M boosted into the local economy.

The PR campaign achieved a reach of over 5.8 Million and a total PR value of over $2 Million. Editorial highlights included coverage in The Australian online and in print, as well as Herald Sun, ABC Statewide and 774, and Beat Magazine.

The Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues closing night party was held in conjunction with Brown Brothers winery. The weekend marked a new era for the festival, continuing its rich 34-year history as an integral celebration of Jazz & Blues in Australia.
