ART CENTRE MELBOURNE

Arts Centre Melbourne engaged Zilla & Brook to lead media and publicity for three shows in its 2026 season. A key focus was Green Room Award-winning theatre company Bloomshed and their epic reworking of George Orwell’s fable, Animal Farm.

It was a well-timed project. Zilla & Brook was the publicist for the original production at Darebin Arts Speakeasy in 2023, and has worked on every Bloomshed show since, including Pride & Prejudice (2025). Bloomshed makes cutting-edge political satire, bringing classic texts to life with physical comedy and outrageous dance breaks. Their radical re-imaginings mix big political ideas with accessible, entertaining storytelling.

Zilla & Brook also supported the Victorian season of Saplings from the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). Written by Yuwaalaraay playwright Hannah Belanszky and directed by proud Kalkadoon woman Abbie-lee Lewis, this award-winning production is a powerful look at the youth justice system through the eyes of young Australians. It’s heartbreaking and hilarious by turns, with stories drawn from workshops and interviews with incarcerated young people from Marrickville to Moree.

Arts Centre Melbourne also brought Zilla & Brook on board for New Owner, a story of grief and loss created for children by internationally renowned Western Australian company The Last Great Hunt.

Across 2026, Zilla & Brook provided media activation across social, broadcast and online channels. Drawing on its industry experience, the team engaged audiences and media outlets alike, organising in-person interviews and publicity that reached all sectors of the media from The Guardian to The Saturday Paper, the National Indigenous Times to Radio National. Zilla & Brook is proud of its ongoing relationship with one of Melbourne’s best-known landmarks.
